Bundle Up Boys
・

My son is almost always excited when I sew for him, so I was thrilled to join the Bundle Up Boys Blog Tour! A chance to sew for him AND to get an early look at some of the awesome patterns that are debuting this month? Totally!
The boys Bundle Up from Pattern Revolution is only running August 22-29, with twelve completely all new designs by some of our favorite PDF pattern designers! Pick as few as 6 to get bundle pricing, add more to your bundle for an even lower price per pattern. The more you buy, the better deal you score!
For my son, I picked to try out the Scientific Seamstress Field Research Pants and Tie Dye Diva Zee’s Tee. My son’s an easy going, no fuss kind of kid, and these both fit in very well with his style. Plus, they’re already two of my favorite designers, so I knew they’d be patterns I’d love to make.
I picked an Italian Denim in a neat pewter gray from Michael Levine for something just a little different than jeans and added orange stitching because it’s his favorite color. I really love the construction on these pants! Super sturdy topstitched side seams really consider the way boys play.
I like that these have the false front zipper and back waist elastic for ease of dressing and a clean, grown up look. And tons of pockets for saving all kinds of treasures! I used a fun raccoon print that he likes for the pockets and waistband facing.
On warmer days, he can zip off the legs and they’re shorts! This will be perfect for the fall mornings coming up. I went with a sturdy molded plastic zipper rather than a nylon coil, just because I know he’s not the most delicate kid. The pattern included an all pants or only shorts option. I actually got to test the pattern as well, so he also has a lighter weight pair of batik cargo shorts for when these need a wash.
I made his Zee’s Tee from a few super cheap tees in the clearance racks of Target. This pattern is fun, because the options are so endless. I color blocked both the front and back, but instructions and pattern pieces for solid, yoke, and pocket styles are all included too.
I mixed up the design from the front to the back, and was able to keep the hem for the sleeves and skip a step. This pattern would be perfect for reusing past favorites into shirts that are new and wearable again! I’m going to dig through his too small pile and find some of the castoffs to resurrect.
We had a good time doing some field research at the park for our last week before school starts up again! I just have a couple more days to sew up a few more Zee’s tees before we have to have our schedule again. And we all have just under one week to buy the bundle!

I totally want more of this denim! The gray color is really great, and it isn’t as stiff as most denims.

I love these pants! I can’t wait to make a pair for my girl. We do lots of hiking and she’s been jealous of her daddy’s pants that unzip to shorts so these are perfect 🙂

Totally perfect for hiking! I would have loved these for summer camp when it’s cool in the morning but warms up in the afternoon!

Wow, both the tee and pants are so gorgeous! I adore your fun fabric inside the pants! Great work!

Thanks Jen! He has some PJ pants with those raccoons already, so he was excited to see them again. But almost 7 in a few days, so hidden on the inside is better. 🙂
